The process of obtaining Chicken Pox is

  • First, the infection enters the respiratory tract
  • Soon it goes to the local lymph nodes
  • It starts duplicating in the lymph nodes
  • Then it moves to the target organs which are the liver and spleen (This process is called primary viremia)
  • The virus is then spread to the rest of the body, giving rashes to the skin of the human (This part is called secondary viremia)
  • Once the symptoms subside, the virus remains dormant in the dorsal root ganglia for several years.
