First, you need to examine the door frame and materials. There are exterior doors which are doors going outside of a building, these doors are usually solid so they are harder to kick down. There are interior doors, which are usually hollow and easier to kick down. Finally, there are metal doors, if the door is metal, you probably won’t be able to break it down. If the door is made of wood or a hollow material you should be able to break it down with minimal force.

Then, check where the hinges are to see which way the door swings. If the door is made of flimsy materials kicking it down will probably only work if it is opening away from you. If you see hinges you should avoid kicking down a door. Then you find the weakest part of the door and look for where the lock is mounted. This is usually the weakest part of the door, so you should kick above or below it. Other weak spots are the latch and the frame.

Stand about leg length away from the door. Drive your non-dominant heel into the ground and kick with your dominant foot and kick the door with your foot completely flat, making sure your leg is bent slightly. you should hear a splintering sound and then kick a second time.  If the door makes a dull noise you should not kick it a second time because this means it is probably made of reinforced material.
