The ability of parrots to speak like a human is due to their unique vocal anatomy called (the syrinx) and their ability to replicate sounds. Parrots imitate sounds to learn and adapt to their environment and use them to interact with other parrots and their owners. However, most parrots mimic what they hear and do not understand their meaning; only some of the most trained parrots can understand what they are mimicking. Even though parrots are the most popular animal that can mimic humans speaking, other animals can do it too, like dolphins, Wales, and other toothed whales.
