PowerNEST is a new renewable energy generator that can be installed on the roofs of medium to high-rise buildings, providing renewable energy to them. PowerNEST is able to harness both solar and wind energy, and it’s the only energy generator of its kind. Developed by IBIS Power, PowerNEST is highly efficient. It reduces electricity bills, also complying with EU (European Union) and international building codes. It’s like having an on-site power plant to generate a building’s energy.

Abilities of PowerNEST

PowerNEST harnesses both wind and solar energy simultaneously, being designed to be more efficient. PowerNEST generates six times more energy than solar panels alone. Cutting-edge solar panels are specially laid out in a bi-facial layout to capture more energy. A vertical wind turbine is installed in the generator. Fins are placed along the perimeter of the generator, channeling wind blowing against the structure to the turbines. To add 40-60% more wind flow, the architecture uses the Venturi effect. According to Wikipedia, the Venturi effect “is the reduction in fluid pressure that results when a fluid flows through a constricted section of a pipe.” This can be applied to aerodynamics, too, meaning when wind blows through the structure, the wind’s speed is increased. Even a slight breeze can generate power because of this. The solar panels are also cooled by the wind. PowerNEST’s design also makes little noise, complying with building codes. Its architecture and design are award-winning because of these innovations. All these technologies combined into a generator make for an innovative energy-generating system.

Advantages of PowerNEST

Not only reducing energy bills, PowerNEST is also “an eco-friendly solution to powering homes”, according to Interesting Engineering. The Paris Agreement is an accord, in which most countries agreed, according to Interesting Engineering, “that humanity irreversibly affects climate change.” In response to the accord, each country made new laws and regulations to reduce emissions and gradually switch to renewable energy. The PowerNEST system is totally independent from gas and fossil fuels, which helps comply with local emissions laws, also removing the need for a backup diesel generator. PowerNEST generates energy year-round. Its structural design is made to be durable. It’s bird and bat friendly, not attracting nests. Another advantage of the design is that it’s compliant with international and EU building codes, and the generator is easy to install.

Conclusion

PowerNEST, harnessing both wind and solar energy at the same time, is the future of renewable energy. Installed on high-rise buildings, they can benefit from this innovation. Generating renewable energy year-round, reducing energy bills, and paying for itself in 5-10 years, the PowerNEST energy generator can be seen as a major step forward towards reducing climate change’s effects.
