Clocky, The Alarm Clock On Wheels

Clocky the alarm clock was released in 2007,  but was gaining massive attention before that in 2005. It certainly fulfills its purpose as an alarm clock by making loud noises and attempting to hide from you. It rolls away on wheels forcing you to get out of bed. Clocky relates to engineering because the engineers had to make code for the wheels to move. They had to engineer it to not break when it runs into or falls off objects. Clocky is a major advancement in the world of alarm clocks.
