
Many people rely on cars to get where they need to go, but cars can create air pollution and contribute to climate change. As cities grow and traffic increases, engineers are looking for new ways to help people travel while reducing their impact on the environment. One possible solution is the electric skateboard, a fun and efficient form of transportation that produces no emissions while being used.
According to the article “Skateboarding: How an Old Trend Becomes a New Revolution,” people have already begun using electric vehicles such as cars, bikes, scooters, and skateboards to reduce pollution. These alternatives help decrease the amount of gasoline burned and can make transportation more environmentally friendly. While these solutions are helpful, there is still room for improvement.
For my engineering project, I plan to design an electric skateboard with multiple power sources. I also want to make it more interactive and enjoyable to use. My design could include a distance sensor that detects when a rider performs a jump or trick. Speakers could then play encouraging messages such as “Nice Trick!” or “Great Air Time!” This would make the skateboard both a useful transportation device and an exciting recreational product.
Electric skateboards have several positive impacts on society and the environment. They do not require gasoline and do not release carbon dioxide while being ridden. They can also help people travel short distances without using a car. However, there are some drawbacks. If many people begin using personal transportation devices, crowded areas could become more congested. In addition, the factories that manufacture batteries and electronic components can still produce pollution.
Through my research, I learned that there is currently no way to create a transportation product that is completely free of environmental impact. However, engineers can continue finding ways to reduce pollution by using cleaner energy sources and more sustainable materials. My electric skateboard is designed to move us one step closer to that goal by providing a fun, practical, and environmentally friendly transportation option for the future.
