This intricate surgery that removed a part of the dachshund’s skull and then was fully restored.

Researchers have makes a custom titanium plate for dog with cancer who’s skull is partly removed in surgery.

Dr. Michelle Oblak from Ontario Veterinary College and Cornell small-animal surgeon Dr. Galina Hayes  performed a perplexing saw operation surgically removed a huge cancerous tumor from the dog’s skull.


This is related to engineering because of biomedical engineering for medical purpose for part of the dog’s skull removed and restored with the titanium plate.

The titanium plate is 3D printed for the operation to patch up the gap of the dog’s skull.
