Should You Stick or Switch? – The Monty Hall Problem

On September 9th, 1990, Marilyn Vos Savant, regarded as the most intelligent person at the time with a record IQ of 228, received a question about a theoretical gameshow scenario, similar to the situations depicted in Let's Make A Deal, hosted by the famous Monty Hall. Although the answer may seem obvious, the true answer lies in the mathematic idea of probability.

You can imagine tension being like a game of tug-of-war. Both sides are pulling the string towards themselves, leading to the string becoming tense and fully stretched out. Some things like metal cable and string are great at taking on a lot of tension.

How SpaceX Transformed The Rocket

On March 14th, 2002, Elon Musk founded SpaceX with the hope of revolutionizing spaceflight and making commercial spaceflight more accessible. Initially, SpaceX was struggling. Their first flight of the Falcon 1, in March of 2006, had failed, and subsequent launches failed to reach orbit. The company was on the brink of bankruptcy, but fortunately, SpaceX received grant of $1 billion from NASA. On May 25th, 2012, the SpaceX Dragon capsule docked with the ISS, resulting in shipping contracts for SpaceX, and jumpstarting SpaceX's development for a reusable rocket.

NASA’s Ingenuity Finally Retires After 72 Flights

On January 18th, 2024, NASA's infamous Ingenuity mars helicopter was discovered to have a broken rotor blade, making Ingenuity unusable. Bill Nelson, NASA administrator, states: "Ingenuity, the 'little helicopter that could'—and it kept saying, 'I think I can, I think I can'—well, it has now taken its last flight on Mars".

The World’s First Stealth Fighter – F-117 Nighthawk

The F-117 Nighthawk, known for its black coating and geometrical shape, is the first to use a radar absorbing material (RAM) and the "faceting" technique, both of which effectively made it invisible to radar. Renowned as the "Stealth Fighter", the F-117 was designed to sneak past strongly defended enemy territory and destroy targets of high value.
