- First, the infection enters the respiratory tract
- Soon it goes to the local lymph nodes
- It starts duplicating in the lymph nodes
- Then it moves to the target organs which are the liver and spleen (This process is called primary viremia)
- The virus is then spread to the rest of the body, giving rashes to the skin of the human (This part is called secondary viremia)
- Once the symptoms subside, the virus remains dormant in the dorsal root ganglia for several years.

- Low-grade fever
- Feeling tired
- Headache
- Sore throat
- A stomachache that makes you not want to eat
- A very itchy skin rash that looks like many small blisters (it doesn’t hurt)
- Bumps filled with watery liquid
