Do you like sports? Volleyball is fun and popular, but before you play, you should have practiced, warmed up, and learned the rules.

In volleyball, you can injure your body by tripping or overextending, so it is important to stretch before playing, even if you are practicing or competing. When stretching, you want to start at the bottom with your ankles, and slowly rotate them. If you land wrong on your ankles and have not warmed up, you can easily twist an ankle. Second, stretch the calves. To do this, tilt your toes up, while keeping your heel on the ground, and touch the tip of your foot. Next, keep your feet flat, and reach towards the ground. Doing this stretches your hamstrings and your calves, which you use to jump. In volleyball, jumping is a critical part of the game.

Wondering how to play? Each team can score a point after winning a rally. The rally starts with a serve. A player stands behind the court and hits the ball over the net. Each team has a maximum of three hits to play the ball to the other side of the net. This means the ball can be hit by two to three players. A single player cannot just bobble the ball on their own. To score a point, a player must hit the ball into the opponent’s court (inside or on the lines), hit the ball off the opposing player out of the court, or an opponent hits the ball out of bounds. Some leagues allow play to continue after the ball hits the ceiling, but you should always check with your referee before playing.

Here are some exercises to help you practice! You use your legs to jump and pivot in the game. Jumping rope is an easy way to build up those muscles. Something else you can try is serving, passing, and setting. Just doing them back and forth against a wall or with a partner helps improve your muscle memory.

Now, do you know how to play, practice, and warm up? It’s a good thing you read this article, because sooner or later, whether it’s on vacation at the beach, or with your friends, you will probably run into volleyball. After reading this, you can even tell your friend some tips. Go on, grab a friend, find a net, and use your new knowledge!
