What Are Nanobots?
Nanobots are tiny robots that can help fight off infections and other diseases. They are about 1-10 micrometers long. To see how small that is, a sheet of paper is 100 micrometers long. The smallest nanobots are 100 times less long than a normal sheet of paper. The main purpose of nanobots is to carry medicine and other things to treat people’s diseases. Traditionally to treat a disease, a doctor would use needles to inject whatever he needed to medicine into the bloodstream. This would cause the body to experience some side effects. Most side effects are mild, but some might be deadly. With nanobots, they would carry the medicine directly to the infected part and inject the medicine in. Nanobots will travel through your blood vessels to get to where they need to go.
There are many ways for nanobots to navigate. One way is to navigate through your body using ultrasound. Ultrasound is a very high-pitched sound that is so high pitched that humans can’t hear it. Bats use it for hunting their prey, and nanobots might use it to navigate to where they need to go. Doctors will guide the nanobot as it travels through someone’s body. Another way is to put a radioactive dye onto the nanobot. Doctors will use technology to track the dye as it moves throughout your body. Your body will not be harmed from the radioactive dye because it is a minimal amount, not enough to hurt your body.
There are many ways to keep the nanobot running. One way is to make tiny batteries that can fit a nanobot. Unfortunately, if you were to make a battery the size of a nanobot, it would not provide enough power to keep the nanobot moving through your body. Another way could be to use nuclear power to power the nanobots. Nuclear power would provide enough power to keep the nanobot running. It would be very safe as the radioactive material would be very small, and even if there is an accident, your body will be very safe. Unfortunately, many people don’t like the idea of a nuclear power nanobot in your body.
The nanobot will move through your bloodstream by using a small tail. By vibrating the tail, it will allow the nanobot to move. This is similar to many types of bacteria that also use tails for swimming.
Nanobots are mostly still in development, but they might be able to make us stronger, smarter, or immune to any disease in the future.
