MIT developed the basic technology for the 3D-printing of liquids. Some may include drugs which can be injected through an inkjet printhead. That technology was later licensed by Therics, according to president of Wohlers Associates, Terry Wohlers. 3D printing could also some day enable custom drugs where a doctor could send a prescription to a pharmacy that uses a printer to create a custom formulation based on the special needs of a patient.
This article relates to engineering since scientists have applied their knowledge to create a new method of making ingesting drugs more efficient and easier.
