A few days ago the CEO of Duolingo decided to start firing his employees in the course design and is now replacing them with AI so he has to pay less money. He is also firing people in the language department to save money their too. Duolingo’s AI-first push is much newer, and there have been no policy reversals on its part as of yet. But the company is facing a tsunami of push back from the general public on social media after announcing the move, particularly on TikTok.
Their are videos making fun of it and also saying how this is really bad because AI is not the best thing for a Language learning app because AI usually gets 20% of the words wrong and people will start learning random words and think they are learning the language they want to learn. This will probably impact how people feel about the company and will also impact their stocks and have some of their inverters leave and take their money making them loss even more money.
