Donald Trump has announced a new round of tariffs on imported goods from international countries; some of the imported goods are electronics, which could impact the tech industry. Tech stocks have first off impacted the tech industry, some of the biggest tech companies such as Apple (-4.2%), Meta (-6.7%), NVIDIA (-5.9%), Microsoft (-2.3%), and Amazon (-5%) had their tech stocks go down by those numbers in the parentheses. There are threats to the tech industry and the global market. The global market recession rate has increased from 40% to 60% because of Trump’s tariffs.
The tech industry will also be affected because it will now cost more for components like semiconductors, electronic parts, and hardware, potentially making it harder for some companies because they need to buy these parts for their products, and it will cost more. Amazon products for tech and other items will increase due to the tariffs because according to uniladtech.com, Jeff Bezos has lost $16 billion dollars because of the tariffs. Amazon even lost a tenth of its stock because they rely on China for a huge amount of goods being manufactured there. The 7 major tech companies Apple, Alphabet, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla have lost trillions of dollars within a day of tariffs. Trump has also decided not to put a tariff on semiconductors from Taiwan for Nvidia, as they need it to make their products. According to a tweet on uniladtech.com, China will have a 54% tariff and that’s 70% of Amazon’s products including electroncis and they will have to increase prices which might make them lose costumers and lose stocks because of that.
