Recently, other countries have begun to show interest in America’s vast AI empire, with China making significant strides with its latest AI development, DeepSeek. This AI is pushing the limits of what was previously thought possible by employing more efficient training strategies and optimizing energy usage to the complexity of the question asked, therefore reducing costs. These innovations have raised questions about the number of computer chips required, leading to a stock market crash in companies that produce them, such as NVIDIA, which are now facing the prospect of reduced business. Despite the downturn, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang remains optimistic, believing that “this will lead to greater demand for artificial intelligence hardware, not less,” as the training of AI becomes increasingly more efficient. Additionally, this new AI is open-source, unlike ChatGPT and comparable models, allowing anyone to access and utilize its code for themselves.
