The James Webb telescope is a mighty space telescope made by NASA to study space. It has found another solar system called “TRAPPIST-1”. It contains seven earth-sized exoplanets that are habitable. The James Webb telescope has already gotten information about this system. It is a huge achievement for NASA.
We still need more information to verify this new solar system is habitable. One planet seems the most habitable out of the 7 in the TRAPPIST-1 system, and its name is TRAPPIST-1e. To find out if it is habitable, we’d need to detect the molecules in TRAPPIST-1e’s atmosphere to see if there are water molecules. If there are water molecules present, it suggests there’s been rainfall, which could mean there was or is water on the planet. However, finding water vapor or water molecules in the planet’s atmosphere is not the only answer to finding life.
The James Webb telescope has already shown possible signs of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere, but we still need concrete evidence. Sometimes, the data sent from the James Webb telescope isn’t clear, so scientists can’t confirm that this planet has life on it, there is still a possibility.
