Solar Sandwich is made by Englert Inc. This is a combination of a durable seam metal roof system and the latest technology of solar panels. This combination can reduce 20 to 80 percent of the energy bill.

The top layer of the sandwich generates electricity the whole time the sun is up. These solar sandwiches are made of a lightweight and durable material that is self-adhesive and is attached directly to the roofing panels. These solar panels not only work during sunny days but also work well during cloudy days, and low light days and adjust well to roof surfaces that are not flat. The size and shape of these solar panels are not that noticeable on the roofs.

This solar panel can be found in 144, 136, and 68 Wp and it includes feature bypass diodes to be able to tolerate shaded conditions. for the first 8 to 10 weeks of use the electrical output can be about 15% higher than the expected rating. The Englert standing seam roof metal roof is necessary for the placement of the Solar Sandwich.

As with everything, solar panels provide benefits, but there are some disadvantages.

Some benefits are:

  • lowers the electric bill
  • could improve the value of your home
  • reduces carbon emissions
  • works in most environments
  • doesn’t need much maintenance.

Some disadvantages are:

  • doesn’t work for all roof types
  • not a wise decision if you are moving soon
  • initial cost is usually high
  • may contain toxic metal

As the technology evolves, I am sure some of these disadvantages will be fixed.
