The Apple Vision Pro, and the Meta Quest 3 have a lot of big differences, but are still close competitors. Some of the major differences are the price, uses, and specs. There are also a lot more differences, but most of them are minor.
One big thing is the price, the starting price for the meta quest 3 is $500 for the 128GB model, and $650 for the 512GB model. Meanwhile the Apple Vision Pro starting at $3500 dollars for 256GB version, about 7x the price of the quest 3, and it goes up to $3900 for the 1TB version.
Another large difference is the specs. Starting with the display, the Vision Pro has a almost 100HZ 4k micro OLED display, while the Quest 3 has up to 120 HZ (in experimental mode) 4k LCD display. There is also the processors the Vision Pro uses the M2 chip, while the Quest 3 uses a snapdragon XR2 Gen 2. there are also a lot more less important specs that you may want to look at before deciding which one is better.
A third thing to consider is the use case. The Meta Quest is a lot better suited for games with its higher refresh rate, and controllers. Meanwhile the Vision Pro is a lot better suited for working and regular use, with better pass through, eye tracking, and sturdy materials for lots of use.
Even though it might not seem like much ergonomics matters a lot, especially when using a headset for a long time it can make a big difference. The Vision Pro comes with the solo knit band, and a dual loop band in the box. But it also has a large battery pack separate from the rest of the headset which weighs an extra about 350 grams, on top of the already high weight of over 600 grams of the headset alone, you can buy a battery holder for an extra $50. The Quest 3 on the other hand only includes a Y type strap, or for an extra $70 you can buy the elite strap.
These are a couple of things to consider before deciding to purchase either of these VR headsets.
