In 1920 the 18th Amendment banned alcohol, wines or any intoxicating liquors. U.S citizens found a loophole to prohibition. In the beginning of the Prohibition era, the drivers transporting alcohol from Canada had to make clever adjustments to their vehicles to evade the authorities, without alcohol nascar wouldn’t be a thing. They got alcohol from different states and smuggled it in to the U.S via cars, these people were called bootleggers. This lead to better, faster, and stronger cars, in December 5, 1933 prohibition ended. Bootleggers still wanted to feel the thrill of racing, so they started racing and eventually they created nascar. Racers found great mechanics to make their car faster to win the race, Mechanics made the piston strokes longer to make the car faster. One famous moonshine race was Johnson, his family made alcohol  he went along with this. He would be a person who would go get the alcohol from neighboring countries, he would do this every week and made his driving skills impeccable. His childhood wasn’t the best though, Johnson’s family had been making whiskey for a very long time. Johnson’s house was stored with whiskey and beer his whole childhood . Police found about the moonshine in 1935 and raided the farm and left everybody but Johnson’s father, they possessed about 7,000 gallons of whiskey.
