The Guide to Minecraft Structures
The description of Minecraft structures.
Minecraft structures have a long and complex history. Structures are randomly generated throughout your Minecraft world when you create one. There are many structures ranging from useless (desert wells) to essential (strongholds). However, most structures have at least one use. For example, ocean monuments are death traps, but they contain 8 gold blocks in the center.
The first structure added to Minecraft was the dungeon. The dungeon was a small cobblestone cube containing 1 mob spawner with zombie, spider, and skeleton varieties. The dungeons also contain 1-2 loot chests. There is a 4th variety of dungeon, which occurs when the loot chest spawns inside the mob spawner. This causes the mob spawner to be overwritten, and creates a chest surrounded by 5 of the rarest spawner in Minecraft, the pig spawner.
The next structures to be added to the game were desert temples and jungle temples. These were structures that generated in their respected biomes. The desert temple contains 4 loot chests, and the jungle temple contains 2.
The next structure is the nether fortress. These structures are made of nether brick, and have the most loot chests of any structure, however, the end cities have higher quality loot. The nether fortress has 2 blaze spawners, and 3-12 loot chests. They contain wither skeletons, which are a highly dangerous mob that applies the wither effect when they hit you. The nether fortresses are essential to beating Minecraft, as you need blaze rods to craft eyes of ender, which are used to locate strongholds.
The next structure is the stronghold. The stronghold is an underground structure containing at least 2 loot chests, and also contains the portal to the end dimension. The stronghold can be located by throwing Eyes of Ender, and the portal requires 12 Eyes of Ender to light. Do not enter the end until you are ready to fight the Ender Dragon, because once you enter the end, there is no way out except by killing the Ender Dragon, or by dying.
