When someone thinks about exercise and fitness, the first thing that usually comes to mind is six pack abs and an all protein diet. Well, there’s so much more to the whole fitness journey than that. Everyone has a different goal, whether it’s trying to deadlift over three times your body weight, or just trying to have a healthy diet and low body fat percentage. No matter what it is, you need to know how to reach your goal and all the steps to get there.

Everyone that has wanted to get into good shape has considered going to the gym. At the gym, you want to have a training split to track your exercises. Push, Pull, Legs, Repeat is the most commonly used training split. 3-5 days is the ideal amount of days someone should go to the gym a week. It is important to have rest days in between your training to let your muscles recover. If you don’t rest, you could get injured, like pulling, straining, or even tearing your muscles. Injury can occur when you are using incorrect form or unnecessary weight. Sleep is also important because that’s when your body regenerates and your muscles grow. Anything more than eight hours of sleep is healthy. There are plenty of different diets, and some work better than others for different people. However, no matter what diet you’re on, you have to track your calories. If you are trying to lose weight, you need to go into a calorie deficit. This simply means eating less calories than you burn. If you’re trying to gain weight you have to go on a calorie surplus, in which case you have to eat more calories than you burn. There are lots of downsides to having both very low, and very high body fat percentages, so anything in between ten and twenty percent is a valid number.

There are a countless number of reasons and benefits to exercise and stay fit. When you exercise, endorphins are released. Endorphins are chemicals in your brain that make you feel joyful. Exercising also boosts confidence, and makes people feel better about themselves. When people start eating healthier and working out, bit by bit, their body changes. People that are depressed or don’t feel comfortable with their body, can go to the gym and get on a diet to help deal with those types of problems.
