You may have wondered what happens to your body when you get electrocuted, well…
An electric shock happens when a person has touched or is exposed to a source of electricity which causes an electrical current to run through the person’s body, resulting in serious and potentially disabling injury, however not death.
The two most common forms of heart damage that can happen after electric shock are arrhythmia (which are irregular heart rhythms); this happens due to the shock disrupting the natural retheme of the heart. The second one is myocardial injuries (such as heart attacks and cardiac arrest); this would happen because the shock was so strong that it completely stopped the heart.
Nerve damage can happen after electric shock and can be life-threatening because it may interfere with your breathing, heart function, the ability to walk, and the brain’s ability to properly and accurately process pain signals from the body. This is due to the electricity burning almost everything internally.
