Tesla is one of the giants when it comes to electric cars. It’s usually the first car company that pops up in their head when they hear “electric car”. That’s why Tesla’s marketing strategy of using a $0 marketing budget works so well. Instead of paying for tv commercials or promotional products, Tesla heavily relies on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. When ever the CEO, Elon Musk posts about the car company, fans and loyal customers get people on the Internet to talk about it. This strategy minimizes the cost of advertising and spreads quickly among his supporters.

SpaceX, another company that Elon Musk owns, sent a Tesla Roadster into space. Currently, the car is in its second orbit. This event was another opportunity to “advertise” their company without paying any extra money. This Tesla also comes up in everyday conversations and organic interactions. As Elon Musk tweeted: “Tesla does not advertise or pay for endorsements. Instead, we use that money to make the product great.” Elon hates advertising and refuses to pay for it. This is the genius marketing strategy that makes Tesla Inc. successful in the car industry.
