Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the fifth installment the super smash bros. series and is regarded as the best in the series. This series was created by Masahiro Sakurai whom of which also created Kirby and is the owner of a company called “Sora Lmt.” Now let’s get into why this is the best fighting game. Right off the bat you will notice that this game has so many unique characters (89) that each have their own moveset and playstyle. Most of these characters are from Nintendo themselves but they also have many third party characters like Sonic, Snake, Sephiroth, Cloud, etc. This game is also very different from traditional fighting games, which I’ll talk more about later. Along with that there are no complicated command inputs, just things like up a or down a etc. but some very specific characters have command inputs (Ryu, Ken, Terry, and Kazuya), these characters are all from traditional fighting games so that explains why they have command inputs and others don’t. You can even play this game with up to 8 people! that is almost unheard of for fighting games, but it kind of makes sense for this game because it’s meant to be a party game.

The mechanics of this game is also way different from any fighting game, an example of this would be that instead of you slowly ticking down your opponents health, their health goes up the more you hit them and then every time their health goes up they get launched further and further until they get hit hard enough to launch them off screen. this game has made many careers for people and is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch. now the community on the other-hand is very iffy and has had a few controversies in the past couple of years, but hasn’t had a big one since 2020, so I think the community is doing a lot better.
