Is the Meatless Impossible Burger Safe to Eat? - EaterIngredients:

Impossible Foods uses GM soy protein concentrate as its primary ingredient, while its flagship ingredient soy leghemoglobin – a protein that carries the iron-containing molecule heme. Its produced by a genetically engineered yeast strain. When put together these ingredients make a vegan  burger that tastes just like real meat.

What Is Soy Protein?

Soy protein concentrate is produced by extracting soluble carbohydrates from defatted soy flour or flakes using alcohol, acid, or hot water. Once put together will make something that will taste just like meat.

Why Was Plant-Based Meat Made?

Plant-based meats are products designed to imitate meat. While earlier products like tofu and seitan were meant to replace meat, newer products are trying to mimic its taste, texture, smell and appearance. Plant-based burgers, ground meat, sausages, nuggets and seafood are now in grocery stores and on restaurant menus.

Which Is Healthier?

Some people say that the impossible burger is healthier than a burger that is made by and animal because it has less cholesterol and fat while others say that real meat is better because its higher in protein and provides a lot of vitamin B12.

Where Can I Get It?

Impossible Burger is now available in more places than ever. Find it in meat aisles at Walmart, Target, Wegmans, and at the Kroger and Albertsons-Safeway’s family of stores. The paddies usually cost $5.49, and $6.99 for a 12-ounce package.
