How To Bake Sugar Cookies

First you will need these tools. a bowl, a 1/2 cup, tablespoons, a whisk, a rolling pin, Christmas/animal cutters, You will also need these ingredients. Softened butter, dough, three eggs, white sugar, vanilla extract, kosher salt, cream cheese, royal icing, food coloring

Making The Dough

Step 1. Roll out the dough.

Step 1. Pour 1/2 cup softened butter into the bowl

Step 2. Pour 1/2 cup of white sugar into the bowl

Step 3. Pour three tbsp. of cream cheese into the bowl

Step 4. Mix all the ingredients with a whisk for about 5 minutes. Once you are done you should get a nice and soft creamed butter and sugar.

Step 5. Add two egg yolks, and one egg to the mixture.

Step 6. Add your tbsp of vanilla extract, and then mix all the ingredients with a whisk once again for about 2 minutes.

Step 7. Add one tbsp. of kosher salt

Step 8. Add  3 1/2 cups of flour, and one tbsp of baking powder.

Step 9. Mix everything again for around another two minutes.

Step 10. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, and put it in the fridge for 2 hours

Shaping The Dough

Step. 1 Take out the dough from the fridge, cut it in half, and put one half back in the fridge.

Step 2. Roll out the dough, and make sure that it is no taller than 1/4 inches.

Step 3. Once the dough has been fully rolled out, place the cookie cutters on it and press down.

Step 4. Then be extremely cautious when pulling out your cutters so you don’t mess up the shape.

Step 5. Remove the shapes and place on a baking sheet. Save the extra dough you didn’t use.

Step 6. The Christmas shaped dough should now be put back in the freezer for another 2o minutes.

Step 7. Take them out and bake them at 350 degrees fahrenheit, for 10-12 minutes.

Step 8. Repeat the process with the other half of the dough.

Decorations

Step 1. Seperate your royal icing into different bowls.

Step 2. Pour 2 or three drops of food coloring into each but leave one bowl without any. (whichever colors you want.)

Step 3. Pour a little bit of water into the non colored bowl

Step 4. Begin to use your non watered icing to outline the cookies, and then either fill them in with a colored icing of your choice, or use the easier way with the watered icing.

Step 5. Finally place sprinkles and decorations over your cookies, and let them rest.

Now you have a batch of delicious christmas cookies.
