The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just approved the Pfizer vaccine for use in 12 to 15 year-olds. So, what does this mean?

This is a big step in fighting COVID-19. Now that a second age group has been authorized to receive the vaccine, more people in the US and around the world will be vaccinated against COVID and we will be able to slow the spread even more. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are studying their vaccines in children as young as 6 months, hoping to get approval from the FDA so we can achieve herd immunity.

Pfizer also recently released an announcement saying that their vaccines can be stored in normal freezer temperatures for up to two weeks, making transportation and storage much easier.

Overall, the approval for the Pfizer vaccine in 12-15 year-olds is a huge milestone in vaccine development and the fight against COVID.
