The Empire State Building, along with the Statue of Liberty, are the most identifying factors of New York City. The Empire State Building has 102 floors and construction begun on March 17, 1930. It was the world’s tallest building up to the 1970’s when the Burj Khalifa was constucted. The Empire State Building was designed by Shreve, Lamb, and Harmon. The building was officially complete in 1931. This relates to engineering because it took a lot of people such as engineers to make sure the building was going to be able to stand and that it was built on solid ground and would never collapse.
