Air hockey is a very fun and exciting activity to do. One thing about air hockey tables is where and what their air source is.
Most commercial air hockey tables use a large fan on the underside of the table. The fan pushes the air up through the holes on surface of the table, which allows the puck to glide across the table.
This relates to engineering because the fan is pushing air up to help the puck glide more smoothly. Instead of just using a glossy surface, the people who made the air hockey tables thought in a more innovative way, and created the holes and the fan to support the puck.
Now that you know how an air hockey table’s air source works, you can go build your own!
