Introduction

D.I.T.C. (short for Diggin’ in the Crates) is a legendary hip-hop collective that formed in the early 1990s in New York City. The group was founded by some of the most respected MCs and producers in the genre, including Lord Finesse, Diamond D, O.C., A.G., Showbiz, and Fat Joe.

Origins

The origins of D.I.T.C. trace back to the late 1980s, when its founding members first started collaborating on each other’s solo projects and making a name for themselves in the burgeoning New York rap scene. In 1991, they officially came together as a group and released their first compilation album, Diggin’. The album featured a diverse range of sounds and styles, showcasing the individual talents of the D.I.T.C. members.

Building Up Rep

Over the next decade, D.I.T.C. continued to release critically acclaimed albums that solidified their reputation as one of the most innovative and influential groups in hip-hop. Albums like 1994’s D.I.T.C. and 1999’s Sessions featured hard-hitting beats, intricate rhyme patterns, and insightful lyrics that explored themes of street life, personal struggles, and the culture of hip-hop itself.

Still Kicking

Beyond their musical output, D.I.T.C. is also known for their dedication to preserving the golden age of hip-hop and mentoring younger artists.
