The Nintendo Company has finally unveiled more information on the Switch 2 system. The Switch 2 has been revealed to launch June 5th of 2025 and it has plenty of new features the Switch does not have. One of the new features is that the system has a 7.9 inch screen while the Switch only has 6.2 inch. Additionally the Switch 2 is just bigger overall with its joycons and system though it has the same thickness as the Switch. The Switch 2 also has about double the pixel amount as the Switch offering higher quality resolution. The Switch 2 has up to 120 frames per second and runs on a solid 60 fps most of the time; a huge upgrade from the Switch’s 30 fps, which lots of users were complaining about. The screen also has vivid LCD and HDR support allowing for more advanced lighting and shadows in games. The Switch 2 also has 8 times the storage of the original Switch with the Switch 2 having 256 gigabytes while the Switch only had 32 gigabytes. The Switch 2 also supports SD cards for even more storage but it u have to use the new SD cards made for the Switch 2 by Nintendo. The Switch 2 also has a new dock that has a built in fan to cool the system down and it can support up to 4k quality on a TV when docked in.
The new joy-con controllers are bigger for better grip and attach magnetically sideways and lock firmly in place unless you press the button on the back of the joy-cons to release them from the magnets. The new joy-cons might also have the ability to not get stick drift entirely but that isn’t confirmed. The new joy-cons also can be used as a mouse providing an easier or more entertaining way to play your favorite games (that are compatible with the feature). Also remember that most Nintendo Switch games are backwards compatible with the Switch 2.
The Switch 2 also has improved audio and speakers as well as the right joy-con having a new button for the new voice chat feature. There is a microphone built into the console for easy to use voice chat. It also has noise canceling technology so your voice is more easily heard. The voice chat system does require a Nintendo online membership though which is somewhat annoying.
