Technical Specifications
Technical specifications are used a lot in the sandwich argument and need to be clarified. A technical specification is a detailed outline that defines the requirements for something to fit into a criteria. For example, the technical specifications for someone to be qualified as a vegan would be the practice of restraining from the consumption of meat or any product of an animal. In our case, the technical specifications of a sandwich would be 2 or more slices of bread with a filling in between. But that is just for closed sandwiches if we were to factor in the sandwich that is the open faced sandwich the specifications get even more broad. The technical specifications for an open faced sandwich is a slice of bread with a food item on top. And for most sandwich definitions the bread could be replaced by some other bread-like food, such as tortillas. Now the subject of what is a sandwich gets really wide ranged and seemingly has very little limits.
Is It Still A Sandwich?
A standard sandwich would usually be something like a ham and cheese sandwich; the sandwich would consist of ham and cheese in between 2 slices of bread. But what if we replace the bread with a tortilla? Is it still a sandwich? Well, according to most definitions the answer would be yes. But what if instead of raping the ham and cheese in the tortilla we just left it open? Is it still a sandwich? From most definitions the answer would again be yes.
These Sandwich Specifications Can Get Wild
Some of the food items that can be considered a sandwich are crazy and some of them are unbelievable. For example, in some places a fried chicken wing can be considered a sandwich, because the chicken wing has to bread-like layers around the outside of the chicken filling by our specifications the chicken wing is considered a sandwich. Another example would be pizza, because again in some places the pizza can be considered an open faced sandwich since by our specifications the pizza has a bread-like dough underneath the other ingredients.
