There are many parts to a record player, that let it play music. First there are basic elements essential to any record player, such as a platter, a needle which is called a stylus, an arm that the stylus is attached to, etc. The platter is a soft disc that spins, and it is where the record sits while playing. It has a peg to stabilize the record. The arm is attached to a point on the base where it can swivel, and it has a counter weight at the end so that it doesn’t damage the record. The stylus is the most important part of a record player because it is where the sound is made. it has a diamond tip and is attached at the end of the arm.
There are also many buttons that you can find on a record player, but they tend to differ on the type of record player. I will only go over a few, but you can find a lot more. First, an essential is the speed selector. There are different record players for different speeds. The most common is 33 rpm, but there are also 45 rpm records. You also have a pitch control lever where you can speed up the record slightly, or slow it down.
To play a record on a record player, you would need to have the record player attached to speakers, where the sound can come out of. Then you would need to have the record player turned on, and you can place the record player on the platter. Make sure you have the record player speed adjusted to match the record. Then, if you have a record player that doesn’t have a play button, then you would lift the arm gently, and it will spin, then place it on the edge of a record and let it play. If you have a record player with a play button, then you would just press it to do that. Once you are done playing a record, you would lift the arm and place it back on its stand making sure not to scratch the record, or let it return automatically to the stand, depending on the record player. Finally, you would lift the record, making sure not to touch the groves, and put it back in its case, and turn the record player off.
