According to D-Wave, they have officially reached “Quantum Supremacy”. One of the computers solved a math problem that would have taken the worlds most powerful computer well over a million years to complete in 20 minutes. In 2019, Google claimed to reach quantum supremacy when they solved a math problem that would normally take a supercomputer 10,000 years in 200 minutes. Similar claims came from China in 2021. However D-Wave still claims that it is the first because they used a real world problem that could solve many problems with materials discovery. They claim that the other problems were just random numbers with no real contribution. A lot of quantum computing stocks were in a slump and right now they are on the uprise.
