Will Our Technology Ever Be As Advanced As the MCU?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) shows some of the most imaginative and groundbreaking technologies ever seen on screen, from Iron Man’s suit to Wakanda’s Vibranium powered technology. But can our world ever catch up to the advanced and “unrealistic” technology shown in these films?
Artificial Intelligence and superheros
Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit is one of the most iconic pieces of technology in the MCU, combining artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics to create a superhero. These features give Stark superhuman strength, flight, and advanced weapons. While this is still far from our reality, we do have progress in similar fields. For example, AI powered assistants like Siri and Google Assistant are improving, and robotics are progressing with power suits created to help people with mobility challenges. However creating a fully functional suit like Iron Man’s requires breakthroughs in materials science, energy storage, and AI. While creating fully conscious, AI like Vision is still a distant goal, AI research is advancing rapidly. Current technologies, such as deep learning algorithms, allow AI to simulate basic decision making.
Vibranium and Ultra-Strong Materials
Another groundbreaking tech in the MCU is Vibranium, the indestructible metal that powers many of Wakanda’s inventions. While Vibranium itself is fictional, it raises the possibility of creating ultra strong materials in the real world. in the article “The Direct” it mentions that scientists are already investigating materials like graphene and other nanomaterials, which have some similar properties to Vibranium, such as exceptional strength and conductivity. While we don’t have a material like Vibranium yet, breakthroughs in material science are bringing us closer to creating materials that could mimic some of its abilities.
A Long Way to Go
While the technology in the MCU is incredibly advanced and somewhat unrealistic in todays world, many of the ideas are based on scientific theories that are being explored today. Technologies like AI, robotics, and advanced materials are progressing quicker and quicker. While we’re still a long way from having Iron Man suits or AI like Vision, future technology holds endless possibilities. What once seemed impossible yesterday may one day be achievable. And as science and technology continue to evolve, the gap between the MCU’s tech and reality might one day be much smaller.
