During the cold war, America had a problem. The M113 APC was super reliable and cheap to produce, but it wasn’t capable of taking troops right into the eye of the storm due to its general lack of armor. Enter, the M2 Bradley.
Developed as an Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), the Bradley combined armor, crew capacity, and armament perfectly. The vehicle is armed with a 25mm m242 Bushmaster cannon, capable of firing HE and APFSDS rounds for soft targets and a dual TOW missile launcher for those big targets that need a little more “Freedom”. The vehicle is armored with aluminum and RHA armor plates and can hold 6 soldiers.
The vehicle first saw service in the Gulf war of 1991, where it was used to great extent. It went on to serve in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and the Russo-Ukrainian war. The vehicle is still being used to great extent by the US army.
The Bradley has had quite a large effect on the media, it being the subject of the Pentagon wars, a popular vehicle in War Thunder, and a purchasable tower in the game TDX.
