A historic ship is currently going to Florida to get sunk and become the new biggest artificial reef in the world. The SS United States is known for shattering the trans-Atlantic record in 1952. It is going to be fixed and repaired before being sunk in Florida’s Gulf in about 6 months. They are going to spend up to $10,000,000 to repair the ship before eventually sinking it to set the ship’s second record. The SS became a reserve ship in 1969 and ended up bouncing between owners before deciding it needed to be sunk. The ship is scheduled to be sunk during the summer.
