In my opinion, coding is still a great way to get ahead in 2025. Many companies still need developers and people who have experience in coding. If you learn to code, you’ll be open to many career opportunities. Even with the many layoffs at big tech companies, many start-ups still need developers to program their websites. Having coding skills enhances your problem-solving skills, which could transfer to jobs in other industries. Interviewers and hiring managers in non-tech fields like medicine and banking highly value problem-solving skills. This means that taking coding could give you a competitive advantage over others who didn’t.
Furthermore, coding makes you much more creative and innovative in your life. The constant experiments you have to run in coding makes you more creative by forcing you to figure out solutions to those problems. Coding allows you to develop new tools and resources, which can enable creative strategies in other areas. In addition, the coding community is extensive and collective, offering opportunities to share ideas, learn from others, and build on existing work. Most importantly, coding is a well-paying job. Coders can make up to $167,000 per year in some parts of the country.
The main fear that prevents people from pursuing a career in coding is AI. Artificial intelligence can code much faster than humans and sometimes better. However, even computers can make mistakes. Human coders are needed to find bugs and errors in computer code. Most of the time, humans can do this task better than AI. Artificial intelligence has many limitations in coding. For instance, it struggles with complex problem-solving, an issue that humans are great at today. AI also blunders when it comes to creativity, a field where humans are better. Creativity is a necessary skill for any coder because it allows them to develop complex solutions, methods, and tools for challenging problems. Judgment and ethics are a concern when it comes to AI coding. AI does not have sentience telling it what it’s making is safe for society or ethical. AI lacks the atmosphere awareness and field knowledge that humans bring to a project.
In conclusion, it is an intelligent decision to learn how to code in 2025. There are many reasons to code. For example, coding could give problem-solving skills and more opportunities for jobs. Coding can also provide creativity and innovation. Because of the many problems with it, AI is not a hazard to coding yet. For instance, artificial intelligence does not have creativity and it struggles with problem-solving and ethics. The world will always need more coders, and 2025 is a great year to learn how.
