Introduction
Google’s first phone was part of the Nexus series as a partnership with OEMs. Google wanted to create their own smartphone that would compete with the leaders of the smartphone industry at the time. This is how the Pixel was created.
The Start of an Era
The first solely Google phone was created in 2016. It was called the Google Pixel. It’s camera was rated as one of the best that year.
Google’s second Pixel was called the Google Pixel 2. The Pixel 2 came with a better camera, better speakers, and a brighter screen. It came with OLED graphics and a new feature: Active Edge, it allowed you to access different features by squeezing the frame of the phone.
The Google Pixel 3’s camera had “Night Sight” which allowed you to take pictures in the dark as if there were lights on. It had advanced water and dust protection to prevent the phone from getting damaged. Google also released the Pixel 3a which was the budget version of the phone. It came at half the price but was almost identical to the Pixel 3. Wireless charging became an option for the Pixel 3.
The Google Pixel 4 had an advanced Google Assistant and an improved, square camera. The speakers were a huge advancement and were the best at the time.
The Google Pixel 5 had a more compact design and was cheaper than its competitors. It had a six inch screen with 90Hz OLED graphics.
The Google Pixel 6 was a completely new design. It came with an all new bar camera with even better capabilities. The design of the phone completely changed. This was the first phone to have the Magic Eraser feature.
The Google pixel 7 had lower prices than its competitors. It featured a second-generation Tensor chip for improved performance. It also featured updates to the Night Sight feature.
Next, Google introduced the Google Pixel Fold. It combined a phone and a tablet. It was great for multitasking because of its ability to be used as a tablet for recreational purposes or as a phone for typical reasons.
The Pixel 8 came with a new camera and magic eraser so you could remove unwanted objects and people in your pictures. It’s new microphone had a feature that removed distracting and unwanted noise. It came with a more compact battery so it was thinner.
