Lockheed Martin, the contractor responsible for firing the missiles, reported that the missile can strike targets at least 500 kilometers away. As part of the ongoing development, the army has been considering investing in future missile system increments, including incidents 2 and 3. Increment 2 will introduce a multi-mode seeker. Increment 3 aims to enhance the missile’s effectiveness by integrating improved payload options. At a recent meeting hosted by the association of the U.S. Army, military officials announced the progression towards a 5th iteration of the PrSM for HIMARS.
On February 12th, 2025, the u.s military achieved a milestone in its precision strike missile. This missile was carried out by using a mobility artillery rocket system. The missiles were put through their paces as part of the army’s effort to test its long-range precision strike capabilities. Both missiles’ performance met their expectations regarding time in flight, accuracy, and detonation height.
