The satellite plays a very important role in many of our lives. The first ever satellite to be put into orbit was by the Soviet Union, the satellite was called “Sputnik” in 1957.
The first ever weather satellite was launched by NASA. The satellite was called Tiros-1 , and it gave infrared images of Earths cloud cover and it is able to detect and chart hurricanes. This also begins the tiros programme, which is followed by the “Nimbus” program.
The first ever communications satellite is the Telstar-1, it is a low-orbit satellite. Later on an Intelsat is made which holds many communication satellites providing broadcasts all over the world.
