The blu-ray disc is a revolutionary invention that was a turning point for video games. The blu- ray disc is a digital optical disc data storage designed to replace the DVD. It was invented and developed in 2005 and released on June 20, 2006. This was also used to create physical copies of video games for the Playstation and Xbox. It uses a blue laser which is used to read the disc. This allows information to be stored at a much bigger scale compared to the DVDs. While the DVD has a maximum resolution of 480p the blue-ray disc has a maximum of 1080p and can support games with a resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels.
