How did it all start?
Mercedes-Benz has its origins in 1886 when Karl Benz created the first practical automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, and a high-speed engine along with the first four-wheeled car was developed by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. In 1901, the company from both men brought to market a brand called Mercedes, that was named after the daughter of one of its business partners. In 1926, the two companies merged to create Mercedes-Benz. They brought their innovations together under one roof and a legacy of luxury, performance, and engineering excellence was born that remains alive more than 90 years later.
