History of ice skates
It is said that ice skates were invented in Scandinavia in the early 1000 B.C.E. The first ice skates were made from bones from reindeer and other animals. As time passed, skates were made from wood and metal blades. In 1914, skatemakers used one piece of steel blade to make them weigh less. Now, ice skates are made with lighter and better materials than in the past.

The process begins with leather being cut from different parts of the boots. The other parts of the shoes are sewn together with a sewing machine. They use plastic or another layer of leather to make it more stable and have more support. It will go through a mulling process that makes it into a desirable shape. A steel blade is added to the bottom of the boot to provide stability. The ice skates are polished and are now packaged for anybody to buy.
