Ever wonder how the Metro that people ride every day works? The DC metro trains travel through the Washington DC area, taking people where they want. The Metro stations are mainly located underground. When you get to a Metro station, you have to start by paying to get a Metro card. After you get your card, you swipe it to go through and enter. Afterward, you can walk down or up the stairs or take an escalator to get where the trains come from. There are six different colors that each represent a train: The red train, the blue train, the orange train, the yellow, the green train, and the silver train. Each one of these trains goes to different places in DC. When you get on the train, you sit or stand up. Sometimes, the train will go above ground but stays primarily underground. When it gets to a new station, the train stops and lets people on and off.
