If you really think about it, cellular is amazing. Data transferred over thin air almost anywhere you go? Speeds fast enough to stream shows and play Brawl Stars in real time? Seems like something that would be in a SiFi movie, but it is real. 5G is currently the most popular form of cellular connections, and is also currently the fastest form of cellular.
From speeds ranging from 10Mbps to 10Gbps, 10 Gbps is fast enough to download the entire Shrek movie in less than 10 seconds. Of course, there are physical limits, but the potential is there. 5G has become so powerful that people have been concerned about their health from the “electromagnetic radiation” from the 5G towers, but studies from West Texas A&M University have confirmed that, quote:
“The electromagnetic waves from all cell phone systems, including 5G systems, cause zero harm to humans. All cell phones and cell phone towers use radio waves to communicate.”
How Cellular Works:
5G technology uses cell towers that transmit data through radio waves. When your phone requests data, it communicates to your nearest cell tower. Depending on where your data is; on a server in Iceland or in a data center in China, the closer the data is to you, the better. The cell towers will take your request, hopping it from tower to tower until it reaches your destination. The server on the other side usually verifies the data, then sends it back over to you on the other side. All of this happens in a fraction of a second, hundreds of times a second.
