The Las Vegas Sphere is a music and entertainment building in the shape of a sphere. As the name suggests, this building is in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is 366 Ft high and 516 Ft wide, with screens on both the interior and exterior of the dome. It opened in September 2023 after five years of construction and a total construction cost of 2.3 billion dollars. Inside the Sphere, you can enjoy the sphere experience, a two-part program that is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. The first part consists of a 45-minute interactive AI robot experience and holographic art, the second part consists of a 50-minute multisensory film. Aside from the sphere experience, the sphere also holds live performances such as concerts and films.
To construct the sphere, multiple mathematical formulas and laws, such as the formulas for the area and volume of a sphere to laws such as the Law of Sines. These different formulas were used to construct the different aspects of this amazing entertainment location, one example is the Venturi Effect that was used to create the 4D wind effects. The many formulas used to build this structure can be found on the official Sphere website. The actual construction of this project was constructed by the same people who created the Madison Square Garden in New York. To construct this building, more than 100,000 cubic yards of rocks and dirt had to be excavated and one of the largest crane crawlers in the world had to be brought in to help with the project. This project is truly a creative and amazing new addition to the Las Vegas Skyline.
