Dark matter is a mysterious substance that scientists believe make up a big portion of the universe. Normal matter is made up of particles such as protons and electrons, but dark matter does not interact with light or other forms of matter, making it invisible to telescopes. Dark matter was first suggested by the observation of the rotational speeds of galaxies, witch appeared to be moving faster than they should be. This led scientists to believe that there is some hidden matter inside of the galaxy.
Despite all these years of research dark matter still is one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in physics. scientists have have made many theories of what dark matter is, ranging from exotic particles to black holes. Although none of these theories have been proven correct. Some scientists believe that if we solve what dark matter is we can unlock the secrets of the universe.
Along with the answer’s to the secrets of the universe, we could use it as a power source. Although its properties and behaviors are largely unknown, scientists have come up with the idea of harnessing its power for potential benefits. One possible field applied in is energy production, with its immense gravitational force we could harness it to power and turn it into electricity to power large cities. we don’t know much about dark matter, but the chance that we can actually harness this power opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
