Starting as a corner store in the Washington D.C. suburbs, Tysons has had continuous growth and is bound to become “America’s next great city” by many. With a projected population of 100,000 people and 200,000 workers by 2040, the growing community has attracted the spawn of many companies and businesses, like Hilton, and Capital One. Currently, the tallest building located in Tysons is the Capital One headquarters, which is 475 ft tall, although there are plans to build a new building, which will surpass that height at about 675 ft. If this is true, then that building will take the title of the tallest building in the D.C. area, as well as the tallest building in Virginia. With Tysons continues growth rate, the projected population, and size of the Edge City. With all the design and thinking needed for Tysons to grow multiple types of engineering was used to make this possible, structural engineering and mechanical engineering are some of them.
