The MLB season has been crazy so far. With new rules to safety on and of the field, This season has been a big  challenge to Players, Coaches and staff members. Most of these rules and safety protocols will be in effect for the 2021 MLB season too.

Safety Protocols

One downside of the 2020 season is the safety protocols. Players and Coaches can’t be with their family until the season is over. Players and Coaches can’t leave the hotel facility and the ballpark unless they are traveling with the team. In previous years all the teams that make the playoffs or advance in the playoffs will celebrate with their teammates and coaching staff, This year they can’t.

New rules

This bazar season includes some major rule changes. One of them is the Universal DH( a hitter batting instead of a pitcher ) for both leagues. Another rule is a pitcher has to face 3 batters OR end an inning, this rule was put into this season so the game goes by quicker so there is less pitching changes and commercial breaks. The last big rule change is if the game goes into extra innings a runner will start at 2nd base.

Schedule

Teams have to play 60 games in 66 days. If we go back to the runner starting any extra inning at 2nd base, was put in so games don’t last 4+ hours. 60 games in 66 days is a lot because that includes traveling as well, therefor double headers ( where a team plays 2 games in a day) are now only 7 innings each instead of a normal 9 inning game.
